YWCA Milestones

Paula Fall - YWCA's Tribute to Women - Business Honoree
(Paula and Bill Fall, Toledo's best dressed couple)

Last Thursday, I had the honor of attending the YWCA's Tribute to Women luncheon. It was held at the SeaGate Convention Center. The President & CEO of the YWCA of Greater Toledo gave the opening Welcome speech and 13abc's Diane Larson was the Mistress of Ceremonies.

A very exciting part of the luncheon came when our dear friend Paula Fall was honored as the Business Honoree. Paula Fall owns Sophia Lustig and Sophie's Sister which are popular boutiques in downtown Toledo. We would like to congratulate Paula for the recognition!

Check out Sophie's Sister on the web, or stop by the downtown shop and be sure to visit Sophia Lustig!

Birthday Girl

There's a running joke in the office that I am obsessed with my birthday. Granted, a few years ago I probably was borderline obsessive... allright so maybe it was a little much! Well today at lunch time, I meandered my way down to the kitchen to find the most amazing birthday cake surrounded by the most amazing coworkers (and bosses!) What a delightful, and hilarious surprise! So, happy birthday to me! :)

A Bed & Breakfast and a trip to Cincinnati

Last week I spent a few days in Cincinnati. It was going to be a very busy trip as I had five site visits for future Photobooth Live events and a few other things on the agenda as well. I decided to stay at a bed and breakfast called The Parker House. This Victorian home was built in the 1800s for Charles Hoefinghoff who became the 'great iron man' of Cincinnati. The owners, Mark and Patricia, opened the doors in 1991 after a major restoration to return the house to its original state. They are extremely welcoming and friendly, and I highly recommend a stay at The Parker House if you are ever in the area!

I mentioned that I had five site visits, which kept me busy, but I also was able to hang out with my mentor and previous UT professor, Jimmie Robinson (JR).

It's so important to stay in touch with the people in your life who become mentors and inspirations. I always enjoy JR's company and look forward to the time we get to spend together.

Lastly, I was able to attend the USITT Conference & Stage Expo which was in Cincinnati this year. It was a busy week and although it was a great time, I was thankful to be home as well. Business is picking up around here after the slow(er) winter season, and we are all preparing for a great Spring/Summer time.

San Antonio

We were very excited to travel to San Antonio, along with Fordham Footage to shoot a wedding! It seems like lately we've had the opportunity to be traveling a lot more and we couldn't be happier! San Antonio was a great place to be, with lots of delicious food and nice weather. Ok, it rained but it was better than cold weather! We were at the the Club at Sonterra in Stone Oak Park. The ceremony and reception were absolutely beautiful. We wish Jen and Jason all the best!

Check out Fordham Footage here!

The Ritz-Carlton Dearborn

We recently shot a wedding at the Ritz-Carlton up in Dearborn, Michigan. If you have been there, you will know what I mean when I say that the place is top notch.

Check out those strawberries! Yet another example of the quality of details at the Ritz-Carlton.

Of course, the beautiful couple made it easy to capture breathtaking photographs! Amy and Kris were a lovely, easy going couple and a pleasure to work with. We can't wait to help them plan their album and be part of their lives in future photography endeavors!

The Happs...

Hello world (here's a song that we're singi- ok ok sorry, I got carried away)... It's already the middle of March, I can hardly believe it. Each day brings us closer and closer to our busiest season of the year and I'm pretty sure we are all getting excited!

Stevie was pleasantly surprised the other day when a package arrived at the door. She wasn't expecting anything, but here was a book in the mail! It was a book from one of her past interns, Eric Mull!

Stevie looked all the way through the book once before she even noticed...

She was part of the book's dedication!

"If there is a style that I emulate the most, it is that of Stevie Grand Lubell. She introduced me to panoramic photography and there isn't a day that goes by that I am not grateful for her generosity. As a student, she shared with me her vision, time and cameras."

How cool is that!? Stevie was extremely flattered and impressed with Eric's work. Definitely check out his site here!!

Bob just got back Saturday night from shooting a wedding in Texas over the weekend. He flew in, then headed straight to Southview High School for Photobooth Live (check out our senior blog for some photos!) Stevie, Lauren and I were at the mall Saturday afternoon for the Prom Party Fashion Show which was very exciting! I will post some photos from that tomorrow!

That's what's new over here at GLP... I'll be back tomorrow!

Our random wednesday photos!

So many thanks to our "random sunny wednesday" photo entries. Mine (below) happened to be of my dog, Roxy so I thought it fitting that the entry I posted be of the animal-persuasion as well! This little guy's name is Sheldon!

Isn't she cute!? I hope you all enjoyed the beautiful weather yesterday. We've been scurrying around the office today getting new pieces out to the lab and preparing for the Prom Party Fashion Show next weekend! The show is at Westfield Mall (Franklin Park to those of us who've been around for awhile!) and we really hope to see you there!!

April showers bring May flowers... but what about March?

The weather forecast for Toledo does not look too great for the next week or so. Granted, it will not be incredibly cold (40s mostly) but it will be cloudy and rainy! The good news is, tomorrow will be mostly sunny so take advantage of it! Get outside, even if it means bundling up, get some vitamin D from the sun and enjoy it! Grab your camera, take a photo of something totally random during your excursion outside and send it to me at glp.rachel@gmail.com! I want to see what everyone is up to on our beautiful NW Ohio Wednesday. You better believe I'll be back on Thursday with my random photo!

We've been brainstorming here in the office about new ideas for the blog. We'd like to know what kind of information is most helpful to YOU! In the coming weeks, I will be posting some helpful tips and links particularly aimed at soon-to-be brides who are planning their wedding. Check back often to see what I can find! :)

Remember, enjoy Wednesday and send me your photograph!
