Grand Lubell was honored to have attended a birthday party for the great jazz singer/lyricist Jon Hendricks on Sept. 15, 2008. He turned 87 today and has an amazing life. The party began at a private Ottawa Hills home with friends from the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo. The fun continued at Murphys on Summit St. in Toledo. Even at 87, Jon is still singing, making great music. He appeared with an orchestra from the University of Toledo and his Vocalstra. This first photo is of Jon:

Jon is founder of the jazz group Manhattan Transfer. He was also a partner in Lambert, Hendricks & Ross. The talented trumpet player, Marcus Belgrave, joined Jon on stage and is featured in the next 2 photographs.
Joyce Perrin founder of Any Wednesday and Herral Long, a photographer, are seen in this next photograph.
