It's Kentucky Derby time! Photoboothlive and Bob Lubell were in attendance for Kentucky's most prized traditions!

Photoboothlive took part at Ferdinand's Ball for the second year in a row and was a bigger hit then ever! Here is an excerpt from the Louisville Courier Journal: "In the funky photo booth area, supplemented with crazy props, Taylor Sommer played a rubber guitar and his wife, Leslie, looked cool in huge slatted sunglasses. The San Antonio couple were full of energy when they emerged from their photo shoot. They said they were delighted by the vibe of the party.“ I like the fact that it's not stuffy,” Leslie Sommer said."

April is turning out to be quite the amazing month for both Grand Lubell Photography and photoboothlive! It's going to be an eventful year, we are so looking forward to being a part of many beautiful weddings and traveling all around the country!

On April 1, we were honored to be a part of the Marvin Lewis Community Fund event that took place in the Cincinnati Bengals locker room!! Now, those of you who know me know I am a MAJOR Cincinnati Bengals fan, so you can imagine how I felt when I answered a phone call to which the person on the other end said, "Hi, this is Lindsey calling for Marvin Lewis..." I about dropped the phone. Marvin Lewis is the head coach for the Cincinnati Bengals, who is also the head of the Marvin Lewis Community Fund, which hosts many events and benefits the residents of the Cincinnati area and beyond. Photoboothlive was featured at the "Pink Out at Paul Brown Stadium" on April 1st. The Pink Out was a cocktail party that took place in the Bengals locker room and the players' gym, which also included a live auction.

Beijing

There are many exciting sites to see in Beijing, this is definitely a trip of a life time! I wanted to share some of my memorable moments and favorite places.

This is a traditional Chinese breakfast.

The Great Wall of China. The Great Wall stretches from
Shanhaiguan in the east, to Lop Nur in the west.

Having a beer on Great Wall has become a local tradition, while visiting. Yanjing has the nick name, "The Real Taste of China" because Chinese people really enjoy this quality beer.

The Summer Palace:
At the Summer Palace, one finds a variety of palaces, gardens, and
other classical-style architectural structures.

The Marble Boat, also known as the "Boat of Purity and Ease" is a lakeside pavilion on the grounds of the Summer Palace in Beijing, China.

So far my travels in China have been wonderful and I am seeing and learning so much about this fascinating culture. I will try and post more photographs while here but the internet is not that reliable.

China Adventure begins in San Francisco

My two week adventure to China begins in San Francisco. After a 5 hour flight from Detroit, I'm adjusting to the 3 hour time change. Monday I begin a 13 hour flight to Beijing, then another 9 hour time change and a day lost over the date line! Watch for more updates as I travel. I'm hoping that I have Internet access, you never know while traveling overseas.

The buzz is out! We visited bumble floral and gifts last week to take a look around, and WOW, I wanted to buy everything in there! Whiteout Wedding

Now, we've shot many weddings in snowy weather. We've photographed brides twirling in the show with their fur capes and muffs, then we all quickly run to the warmth of the waiting car and off to the reception we go. However, the wedding we photographed on February 1, 2011 in Farmington Hills, MI was a whole other type of "snowy weather" wedding. Bloomie and Bentzion Shemtov were married at 6:30pm outside. In the middle of a blizzard.

Some would call that peculiar, but Bloomie and Bentzion were married under the chuppah, a canopy outside, amidst 40 MPH winds with snow and sleet showering down. It is the couple's belief that being married outside would "yield the blessings of children as numerous as stars of the heavens." The ceremony was officiated by the couple's fathers and grandfathers, all Rabbis. The bride and groom and guests escaped the horizontal snow and headed indoors to celebrate. Below are some photos from their unique and special day...

Dale Fordham, of Fordham Footage, was the videographer and offered a unique service for the bride and groom. The entire wedding day was streamed live over the Internet, it was seen by friends and family all over the world including China, Israel, England, Canada, Argentina, France and Spain. Winter Wonderland for Christa and Aaron!

The Toledo Club was the perfect setting for Christa Arkebauer and Aaron Pumerantz's winter wedding. Christa and Aaron were married on December 11 at Rosary Cathedral with a reception to follow at The Toledo Club. The Club was decorated with all things "Christmas," complete with lit trees and garlands in every room. Entertainment was provided by KGB, and each guest couple received a hand-blown glass wine stopper crafted by Steve Cothern, assistant manager of the Toledo Museum of Art Glass Pavilion, as a special remembrance of the occasion.

Aaron is a Captain in the U.S. Army and is completing his residence in internal medicine at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, DC. Christa has a Master of Biomedical Science Degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (which is where they met) and is pursuing advanced degrees in occupational therapy. The couple currently reside in Silver Springs, Maryland.

We wish you a happy lifetime together and we enjoyed spending this cold December day with you!

Ringing in the New Year!

New Year's Eve is always a blast, so imagine celebrating your wedding AND bringing in the new year on the SAME DAY!! We had two spectacular weddings this year on New Year's Eve, and what a blast we had!

Olivia Kemmer and Ryan Hunt were married at the Christ the King, followed by a beautiful reception at the Hilton Toledo. The decor and flowers were done by Keith Brooks Florist, and Bee for the Day Wedding Consulting helped to make sure all the wedding planning went smoothly. Olivia's mother is the one and only Alice Kemmer, of I Do Chair Covers, so she had a lot of experienced professionals to work with! With a little time to spare between the ceremony and reception, the bridal party stopped at the Toledo Museum of Art and the always gorgeous Lights before Christmas at The Toledo Zoo.

Katy Boyle and Dustin Williams tied the knot at St. Joseph's Sylvania with a stunning reception at the Sylvania Country Club. Katy and Dustin are both resident doctors at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ so thankfully our typically frigid Ohio weather wasn't as bad as it normally is! Katy's family lives in Sylvania, so the wedding party stayed toasty indoors and had many of their formal photos taken at her family home. Dustin's aunts are florists from California and flew in some spectacular flowers, and the always wonderful Bartz Viviano Flowers allowed them to borrow their workspace to make their arrangements. So a special thanks to Bartz Viviano for helping Katy and Dustin's wedding day beautiful!

Congratulations to our New Year's Eve couples, it was a great way to bring in the new year!

Tina and Ron's sunset wedding

Stevie and Bob traveled to beautiful Lido Key (Sarasota, FL) for Tina Billmaier and Ron Shapiro's wedding day. Although a bit colder than expected, the sunset was beautiful. The beach was snow white and the couple exchanged vows amongst close friends and family. A lovely reception followed at the Lido Beach Resort. The evening ended with the groom and friends playing music and singing along.

Sandcastles in Naples

Grand Lubell is off to Florida for the destination wedding of Tina and Ron, but not without a few days off. Monday we visited the beach at the Ritz Carlton, Naples to find sand artist Victor Leong of Miami Beach Sandcastles. A true artist, Victor works only with his hands and water drip to sculpture. Did I mention that the temperature was about 45 degrees with 40 mile per hour gusts off the gulf? The work is fantastic and would be even more spectacular if we could have seen the night show. If the wind was down, they would have added flaming towers to the castle.

Tuesday we will shoot Tina and Ron's wedding on the beach in Sarasota at the Lido Beach Resort. We hope to brave 55 degrees and 8 mile per hour winds.

Corda Ryan and Brad VanderVlutch- Toledo Wedding Photography

Corda and Brad should have no problems remembering their wedding date of 10/10/10. A very unique ceremony and reception were held on the rooftop of LaSalle Apartment Building.

Nobody could deny that Corda was an absolutely stunning bride.

Brad could not take his eyes off of his beautiful bride.

Cypress Barrow and Jacob Urrutia- Toledo Wedding Photography

Cypress and Jacob shared an exquisite wedding day on September 25, 2010. The ceremony was held at the Whiteford Greenhouse, which is also Cypress' home. The reception followed at Centennial Terrace. The day was expertly coordinated by Bee For The Day and Brooke Cobb.

This photo was taken moments after the couple first saw each other on their special day.

The colorful boutonnieres, by Keith Brooks Florist, matched the rest of the wedding decorations perfectly.

The elegant flowers and peacock feathers were a theme carried out in many aspects of the wedding, including the cake.

This was just one of the table decorations that was set out at the reception.

Stevie got to witness the couple's happiness on their wedding day, and wishes them many more happy days to come.

It was a beautiful day that allowed for many outdoor photos.

Nicole Bender and Chris McKenzie- Toledo Wedding Photography

Where It All Started...

Grand Lubell Photography began as Lubell Studio exactly 39 years ago. In the company's first two years, Bob photographed over 70 weddings. Starting out, Lubell Studio also did many commercial jobs.

Bob's humble childhood home where the business began.

This dark room, which Bob built himself, is where all of the photo processing took place when it was all done by hand. So different from how it is done today!

Family and friends gathered to see Renee and Josh give their vows on September 4, 2010. Both the ceremony and reception were held at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Toledo.

Banhi and Andrew tied the knot on September 18, 2010. They had a gorgeous outdoor ceremony at Nazareth Hall. Friends and family then gathered at Banhi's parents' house for the reception. The bride proudly wore a stunning red dress, which is traditional for an Asian-Indian wedding, which is her heritage.

Bob was able to capture beautiful photos of the couple before the ceremony.

The ceremony at the grotto was decorated very elegantly.

The lovely bride and her bridesmaids took some fun outdoor shots together.

Fun lights and decorations added a splash to the reception.

Bob enjoyed spending the day making memories with the new Mr. and Mrs. Gallegos. GLP wishes them many more happy days to come!

Shannon Reilly and Vinod Nannapaneni - Michigan Wedding Photography

GLP is known for being the most respected photographer amongst traditional ethnic families. We have compassion and understanding for the specialized needs of long time customs and traditions. Fortunately, we were given the opportunity to spend the day with Shannon and Vinod on August 28, 2010. An early Hindu wedding ceremony was held at the Hindu Temple. Later, a western ceremony was held at the home of the bride's mother.

These were Shannon and Vinod's ceremonial offerings during the Hindu wedding pooja.

Ethnic weddings often have beautiful vibrant cloths, flowers, and other decorations.

This guest's bright corsage complimented the rest of the colors at the wedding.

Flowers were placed in these glasses and used as gorgeous table decorations.

GLP greatly enjoyed sharing a part of culture with Shannon and Vinod on their wedding day. We wish the best for the new couple!

Ashley Hettle and Dino Santacroce - Toledo Wedding Photography

Ashley and Dino committed their lives to each other on August 21, 2010 at St. Catherine's. After the ceremony, they headed to The Pinnacle to celebrate for their reception.

Kate and Phillip tied the knot at St. Timothy's on August 21, 2010. Following the ceremony, the couple and guests enjoyed a fun evening at Belmont Country Club. Kate's parents helped with many of the decorations and arrangements. As owners of the Paula Brown Shop, they provide a great place for wedding registration and invitations.

Having a graphic designer for a bride provided fun, unique arrangements for the reception.

Not only did the attendees love the chocolate, they loved the design as well.

All of the guests were excited to try this delicious treat.

Any green food that exists was almost guaranteed to appear at this color coordinated reception.

The elegant table settings provided a sophisticated, classy appearance.

Place settings were personalized for the guests who attended the reception.

After all of the planning, the day finally came! Christine and Erik got married at Olivet Luthern Church on August 21, 2010.

Kendra and Gary vowed their lives to each other on July 31, 2010 at Blessed Sacrement Parish. The ceremony was followed by a reception filled with fun and dancing at the Park Inn.

The bridesmaids weren't afraid of a little water. They just wanted to have some fun!

The groomsmen didn't allow the bridesmaids get away with ALL of the fun!

We LOVE our baby shoots around here. Recently we've had the great privilege to photograph Miss Lucy, Baby Ian, and possibly the cutest siblings around, Little Emma and Jake!

Lucy is our very own Lauren's daughter, she is such a cutie pie. Everyone around the office begs Lauren to bring in Lucy so we can take a break from our work to play. Lucy came in last week for her ONE YEAR photos! Shes getting so big so quickly, its hard to keep up.

A fairytale come to life...

Amy and Kris Magers came in last week and played dress up, even though they were married last year! We were thrilled when she called, we always encourage our brides to come in and have a fun session without the worry of getting their dress dirty on their "Big Day." It's become more and more popular, considering sometimes you only have limited time on your wedding day for photos.

Simply beautiful, we felt honored to photograph Amy and Kris again. Going to the stable to include Amy's horse in their session was tons of fun, and made for a very unique and romantic session.

This is been a great, but busy wedding season! We have had three former interns' weddings that we have had the great pleasure of being invited to. Our most recent was Megan who married her longtime boyfriend, Jonathan. Stevie and Sarah traveled down to Cincinnati for a fun filled day of running all over town :)

Their ceremony and reception was held at the Verdin Bell Center in Cincy, which was GORGEOUS and very dramatic!!

Bob and Stevie celebrated Independence Day on the Willis B. Boyer, museum ship in downtown Toledo, as they do every year! It has become a tradition, to attend the annual picnic by the Toledo Club.

They enjoyed a front row seat for the fireworks with an incredible buffet and great cocktails.

There is no better view of Toledo's fireworks.

On June 10, Stevie and Bob photographed a traditional Orthodox Jewish wedding. The bride and groom share a very serious moment as they pray during the wedding vows. This picture perfectly explains the seriousness of the wedding because the bride wears a vail to cover her face as the groom marries her for inner beauty. The bride is accompanied by her mother at her side and the groom is accompanied by his father at his side while he prays.

The men and women are separated by a barrier during the reception and only dance with their own gender.

Shmuel is from Toulouse, France and has studied in New York. Mushka is a Toledo Native and has been the director of The Friendship Circle here. She will be working in Brooklyn in education after they settle in New York. We hope the best for this great couple. Mazel Tov!

For the past few weeks, June 11 was the date everyone around the studio had been anticipating most. One of our own, Rachel Holt married Eric Ade! The wedding was so creative down to the very last detail.

Eric and Rachel designed the back ground of their wedding. They created it to look like brick walls and a yellow stand with a red chandelier.

They are all so goofy. We love their mustaches!

The reception was so cute and had so many creative little details! The cakes were delicious! Rachel and Eric are such an adorable couple.

They had these pins that everyone LOVED! It was such a cute idea and great souvenirs of such a fabulous wedding.

Eric and Rachel are heading out on Tuesday to their honeymoon in the Pacific Northwest. Everyone in the office jokes around that they are going on a "Twilight" tour. We hope the best for you two, and can't wait to see you back in the office, Rachel!

This weekend we had three extraordinary weddings.

One of our own, Tim Volk, a former co-op here at Grand Lubell, married Melissa Maas. They had such a beautiful wedding. They live in Cleveland, but came back to Melissa's hometown to get married in the St. Johns Cathedral in Glandorf. The reception was in the next town over in Lepsic at the Fogle Center.

For their formal shots we went to a nearby park.

The groomsmen had such a fun time playing on the play ground. :]]

The cathedral was gigantic with such great detail in each window and statue!

Their "Just Married" get away car was a classic black pick up truck with a bench in the back.

Brittany Becyznski and Richard Cutlip got married on Saturday at First Congregational in Toledo. Their wedding was so creative. Instead of bird seed, or flower pedals, or bubbles, the guests released butterflies as the newly married couple exited the church. The reception was so vibrant with such great colors and lights and awesome table centerpieces. This was such a fun couple to work with and we hope the best for Mr. and Mrs. Cutlip. :]]

Lindsey Smith and Jason Dalton got married at the Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green.

Formals were taken on the golf course at Stone Ridge.

Lindsey's twin, Kacey, helped them celebrate and looked so happy for her sister.

They had such a classy black and white and red wedding.

Jason and Lindsey are headed to St. Lucia for their honeymoon.We hope the best for this adorable couple, we are looking forward to seeing them in the future!

Stevie traveled to Painesville, Ohio to Lauren Mohamed and Matt Keske's wedding. They got married at First Church Congregation and their reception was at LaVera Party Center in Willoughby, Ohio. Here are a few of their great pictures:

All the girls in the studio loved the groomsmen and that they wore gray Chuck Taylors.

Majority of the bridal party attended University of Toledo, and Lauren and Matt moved to North Carolina to follow Lauren's dream of teaching.

Matt was so cute when he proposed to Lauren at California Grill after watching a beautiful fireworks show. He popped the question with the ring on a silver platter and "Will you marry me?" written in chocolate, her favorite.

Matt and Lauren are going to Rivera Maya at the end of June for their honeymoon!

This weekend we had the honor of photographing two absolutely beautiful weddings!

Bob traveled to Mount Pleasant, Michigan to the Soaring Eagle Casino to Jasna Gojkovic and Rob Appell's wedding. Jasna and Rob met at work at Dow Corning in Midland, MI.

My favorite picture is of them making a heart with their hands!

For the formal shots they went to the gorgeous Dow Gardens in Midland, MI and took some amazing shots. Jasna was brave enough to sit on the top of the Sun Bridge and got some amazing shots with her dress flowing down the side.

For the next couple weeks they are housing Jasna's family who came in from Serbia!

Every semester, GLP takes on between 1-3 interns from Bowling Green State University or University of Toledo. This semester we have 3 interns, one from UT and two from BG.

Meet John:

John studies at BGSU studying Visual Communications Technology.

At GLP, John would like to learn about lighting: Studio Lighting and Natural Lighting.

He shoots on a Nikon D300.

His favorite movie is Donnie Darko.

His favorite song is The Royal We.

His favorite band is Metallica.

His favorite colors are red and black.

John really wants to go on vacation to Alaska.

If he were transformed into a fish, John would be gasping for water (because we are sitting at a computer desk, not in water).

If he could be any Transformer, John would want to be Ironhide.

His favorite TV show is Dexter.

John doesn't know how to play any instruments, but he would love to learn to play guitar.

If he could be any animal, he would be a dog. ...He's lame. :]]

If he could be any ice cream flavor, he would be superman ice cream.

John wishes he could teleport.

He has this awesome hidden talent of making this water drop noise by saying "oit" and flicking his cheek. Lets just say everyone around the studio tries to do it and it's practically impossible.

John returned to us this summer semester from this past spring semester. At the beginning of the summer he took a vacation to China, as seen in the picture. (jealous!)

Sarah attends University of Toledo and studies New Media.

She wants to learn how to be an excellent photographer.

Alaine attends BGSU and studies Visual Communications Technology.

At GLP, Alaine wants to learn to be a better photographer, better editing skills, how to run a studio, and how to handle orders. (basically everything...)

She shoots on a Canon Rebel XTI.

Alaine works at a movie theater, so she doesn't have a favorite movie.

Her favorite song is What hurts the most by Rascal Flatts.

Her favorite colors are pink and purple.

Her favorite vacation spot is Charleston, SC and wants to go back again soon.

If she were to transform into a fish, she would probably flop around, flailing for water. If she were in the water, she would sing "Just keep swimming."

She plays in the Falcon Marching Band at BGSU on Mellophone (which is a marching french horn) and she also plays trumpet and French Horn.

What a crazy few months it has been! If you were following our blog before the hiatus, you will hopefully understand why we've been away. Lauren, our studio manager, just returned from maternity leave, yayy! Now that the studio is settling back into our usual routine, I have found time to sneak away from all of the workflows, ordering, retouching, etc. to show the blog world some new stuff!

Our wonderful wedding photographers have had their weekends packed full of beautiful weddings. We've seen some truly inspiring creative brides this season and I can't wait to share some of my favorites! Hopefully this little runner of photos will hold you over until next week when I will buckle down on some serious blogging.

Emily and Ryan's Historic St Pats & TCC Wedding

Emily and Ryan were married at the beautiful Historic St Pats on Saturday August 8th. They had an absolutely stunning wedding. From the tiniest of details to the grandeur of the ceremony, the whole day had a magical feel to it. The reception was held at the Toledo Country Club where the weather cooperated wonderfully for an outdoor reception. The chandeliers, candle lights, flowers, and greenery created an intimate atmosphere for Ryan and Emily's family and friends.

Goodbyes and Hellos

Meet Lucy MacKenzie Guhl! We were all clamoring to get the first look when Lauren paid us a visit last week. She's so tiny and adorable!

Unfortunately, the reason for Lauren's visit was to take part in our 'goodbye' photo. As each semester ends, we get a group shot of the whole lot of us. Here you see our summer crew. Kristi will be returning for the fall semester (a glutton for punishment? haha kidding!) so we don't have to say goodbye to her. We won't be rid of Kim either as she has agreed to come back for some part time work! Val was such a bubbly and friendly asset to our team. Many of our seniors spent a couple hours with Val as she was a frequent photo assistant. We hope she drops in from time to time to visit with us.

It was a great summer team, and we have lots of memories from the office! Best of luck in the future Kristi, Val, and Kim. And Lauren, bring Lucy back!! We miss you both. :)

Baby Guhl has arrived!

Rita and Steve's July Wedding

Rita and Steve were married on July 11th and they definitely had beautiful photos of their big day! We've loved working with both Steve and Rita - they are a delight! I know our designer is looking forward to coming up with a beautiful album for the couple.

They were married at Oak Openings Lodge and had their reception at Valleywood Golf Club. I love the image of them running through their guests after the ceremony. Those candid action shots are the best!

Glenmoor Country Club

The Glenmoor Country Club is located in Canton, Ohio and is absolutely beautiful. It has such an interesting history that you can read about here. The building and grounds started out as Brunnerdale Seminary High School for boys which closed its doors in 1986. Following a renovation, the club opened in 1991 and the Jack Nicklaus golf course opened in 1992.

The reception hall is located in the former chapel. The cathedral ceilings, giant candle chandeliers, and rustic atmosphere make for a great reception hall! What a great use of a retired chapel and seminary school.

We had the pleasure of doing photoboothlive at the country club for Davene and Andrew's wedding reception. Photoboothlive created great memories for the guests and was a huge hit once again!

One of the best parts of travelling to other cities for wedding and event photography and photoboothlive is being able to see and learn about great establishments such as the Glenmoor Country Club that have great stories and history!

Scott and Rebekah were married on June 13th at St Pats with their reception at the Crown Plaza. It was a beautiful wedding! We've just had a string of absolutely beautiful weddings lately, and I love blogging about them. It's fun to show off the hard work and creativity of our brides!

Bernadette and Jim came to Grand Lubell to arrange a family photo session with their family, and they turned out very nice! The weather cooperated, the wind wasn't too strong and Stevie was able to find shade from the harsh shadows of the sun. The Blue Nile

The other night I stopped in at the Blue Nile Restaurant in Ann Arbor, Michigan. If you haven't been to this restaurant, you should put it on your to-do list. This Ethiopian eatery unique, elegant, and boasts a "traditional Ethiopian royalty feast."

What the table looks like before you sit down.

Ethiopian food is meant to be eaten from the same plate. The website describes it like this:

Significant in the Ethiopian culture is eating from the same plate and sharing the same bread (called injera). It is said that people who eat from the same plate and break bread together will create a bond of friendship and personal loyalty.

Stop by the Blue Nile restaurant next time you visit Ann Arbor. Located on Washington Street, the Blue Nile is likely not far from your downtown destination.

Katie and Patrick were married last Saturday at Tamaron Country Club. They had beautiful weather, bright colors, and an overall beautiful wedding! I thoroughly enjoyed myself assisting Stevie on this shoot - and we all cannot stop talking about this wedding!

This was their 'Matrix' move, which was pretty funny to watch!

The girls had these matching sunglasses, which made for an adorable shot. If you are planning your wedding, don't forget about fun details like this!

Katie's dress and veil were just stunning! Her veil was really heavy, and the wind wasn't helping matters but you can't even tell in the pictures.

I'm in love with gerbera daisies. Seriously, how can you lose with a bouquet full of bright gerbera daisies!?

The Spot!

Do you know where a good spot to eat is? I know where THE Spot to Eat is! Sidney, Ohio. Bob stopped by the Spot a few weekends ago and took these photos. This restaurant was one of his grandfather's restaurant's main competitors back in the day. Bob's grandfather owned many Frisch's franchises across Southern Ohio from 1955 to 1970, and you can see one of them in the photo below behind the Dairy Queen!

The Spot's website said this about the history behind the restaurant:

The Spot Restaurant made its beginnings from a man named Spot Miller. In 1907, Spot brought his chuckwagon into town and set-up business at the corner of Court Street and Ohio Avenue. The city would not allow him to sell meals this way. His solution was to remove the wheels, and add some awnings to create a permanent structure.

The Chuckwagon was the restaurant between 1907 and 1934. In 1934, a more permanent building was erected at the Court and Ohio location. That structure was destroyed by a fire on New Year’s Eve in 1940. After its remodeling in 1941, the current facility is a fine example of the streamlined Art Moderne architectural style with its smooth, unornamented wall surface faced with gleaming white porcelain tile. A mid-century modern neon sign still hanging over the front door is still the Spot trademark. The inside of the restaurant has been remodeled approximately 25 times over the years. The last major renovation occurred in 1976 giving the restaurant it’s current layout.

Greenacres Foundation

Have you ever heard of the Greenacres Foundation? Let me tell you, this place is beautiful! A couple weekends ago, we traveled to Cincinnati to do a photoboothlive event at the Greenacres Foundation Art Center for Katie and Mike. The wedding was beautiful - Bob was able to capture a few beautiful photographs of the location as well as the newlyweds!

If you are looking to do an outside wedding, consider one of these beautiful tents! Hanging chandeliers from the top add elegance.

Bob is spending a few days in Kansas City at 'school' at our lab. He's already telling us all about the newest tricks he's learning - I'm sure we'll be spending Friday catching up on all the stuff he learned. Our long time supplier H&H Color Lab offers a university setting for their customers. He's also been able to spend some time at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Bob's search for lunch

Bob is always looking for some great Indian food in whatever city he travels to. When he was in Cincinnati recently for the CAC gala, he found a little Indian carry-out that satisfied his craving for Indian food. Upon his return to the studio, he informed me that I must blog about the Krishna Indian Carry-Out so that fellow Indian food lovers can experience this place.

He said the place was really busy while he was there, and all the tables were full!

He also found this tattoo place after lunch, and stopped in for a session...

Just kidding, he didn't get a tattoo!

We were all trying to take guesses at what he would have gotten had he actually gone in for a tattoo. Do YOU have any guesses? Who knows, maybe next time he's in Cinci under the food coma from the Krishna Indian Carry Out, he might just stop by Beelistic!

Contemporary Arts Center

The Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati, Ohio is celebrating their 70th year! As one of the first museums of contemporary art in the United States, the CAC has exhibits in painting, sculpture, photography, architecture, performance art and new media.

To celebrate their 70th year, the CAC's annual gala was even more spectacular! It was a black tie event with 7 honorees and a silent auction. The after party went way into the night with multiple bars, food from Do Downtown, dancing, and (of course) photoboothlive!

We actually were able to project the photoboothlive onto a window so the images could be seen from inside the party as well as outside on the street!

Findlay Rotary

On May 15th, Bob traveled to Findlay to a place called 'The Cube' to set up and run a photoboothlive. The theme was Pirates of the Caribbean and they did such an excellent job with the decorations!

Photoboothlive was another smashing success at this event. They especially had a blast due to the themed props!

Well we have just been pretty busy around here! The weeks just seem to be flying by and I haven't had the chance to keep our poor blog up to date. So that is my goal in the next couple days - to fill you in on what we've been up to.

When you are looking for a wedding photographer, one thing you should definitely consider is having your photographer for the ENTIRE day. Getting ready is a great opportunity for photographs. You may be able to (attempt to) relax a little with your closest friends and family during this time. You might not even remember most of the morning because you are so focused on the day ahead of you - which is why Stevie & Bob love to photograph from the very beginning of your day!

Melissa & Matt were married at the Toledo Zoo on Saturday, May 16th. The day started out rainy and overcast but cleared into one of the most beautiful afternoons. They had their ceremony outside in the Formal Gardens which were absolutely breathtaking. I had the opportunity to spend the day with the bride and groom, their family and friends as I was the assistant to Stevie for the day. They were so much fun, and the day just flew by. I can't imagine how much of a blur it must be to Melissa and Matt!

Congratulations Melissa & Matt! Thank you for letting us spend a very beautiful and fun Saturday with you and your family. I hope to post a few more photos later this week from the ceremony and reception!

The Toledo Opera

Bob and Stevie attended the Toledo Opera's Candide on Saturday at the Peristyle. Candide is a performance based on Voltaire's novel (Check out the synopsis here). The performance marked the Toledo Opera's 50th anniversary, and they had a very special party following it at the Toledo Club. Bob attended the party and photographed it. Check out the photos below!

I just got inside from assisting Stevie on an engagement shoot for Kerry and Gary. Aren't these images adorable!? Kerry and Gary are absolutely sweet and they were a joy to have on the shoot. They brought their dog, Mags, who is a 1 year old mutt and seriously one of the cutest dogs I've seen. Now they are off doing cake tasting all day - who's jealous? ME!

Bob attended the Taste of the Nation party on Sunday and let me tell you, we were all quite jealous of him! He came in Monday raving about the food, music, and photoboothlive fun. We will just have to live vicariously through the photos he took. V/Gladieux Catering provided the shrimp and oyster shooter in the photo above. Northwest Ohio had absolutely beautiful weather this past weekend! It was perfect conditions for an engagement shoot in downtown Sylvania. Lauren and Erik, who are getting married in August of this year, are so much fun! They are naturals in front of the camera, and you can just tell when you meet them that they are completely in love.

These two photos are just a sampling of the stunning results from the shoot. We can't wait to shoot their wedding this summer!

Have you ever thought about what kind of wedding album would suit your style best? I wanted to show you a few spreads from one of my favorite albums that I have designed. This album was so much fun because Bob and Stevie really captured the tiniest details which gave me great images to work with!

What I like the best about our Modern Image albums is that they can convey a feeling for the day. You get an idea of the atmosphere and excitement in the album because it tells the story of the day! Definitely consider getting a Modern Image album for your wedding photos - I would love to design one for your day!

Have you ever check out wedding cakes online? I've been looking through our past weddings for cool cakes, and this is a little collection of the ones I've found so far!

I did find a few cool bakeries in the Toledo area: Petit Fours, Myles Baker Street, and one up in Ann Arbor: Cake Nouveau. That last one has been featured on a few Food Network competitions!! Definitely check out those sites if you are interested in seeing some very creative cakes!

Such great questions to ask! I thought I'd take a few minutes to answer this list of questions for you! Make sure you check out the article for added tips and peruse the rest of the site!

Here we go...

1. Do you have photos of entire weddings that I can see?

Of course! We can't stress it enough that when you are 'shopping' for your photographer, you absolutely NEED to see an entire wedding. What you see on websites and in portfolios or sample albums is a showcase of some of the photographer's best work! We'd hate to see anyone hire a photographer for their entire day and walk away with just a few stand out shots.

Make an appointment to meet with us in our studio, and we will show you photographs from an entire wedding. We'd love to walk you through the process so you can get a feel for our style.

2. Do you have references I can call?

We'd be happy to provide you with a reference! Also, you can view some testimonials on our website.

3. Do you post proofs online, or will I receive negatives?

We shoot with digital SLRs, so you will not be receiving negatives. We do post the proofs online and they will stay in your own private web gallery for 12 weeks (which can be extended if need be).

4. Who will be photographing my wedding?

At Grand Lubell Photography, we have six photographers who have been shooting for many years. When you come in to our studio to meet with us, we will show you samples of each photographer and we will find the photographer that best suits your style!

5. When will my proofs, prints, and wedding albums be available?

We post your proofs within 4 to 6 weeks from your wedding. We take time with each and every one of your images to ensure that you are looking at the best quality proofs! With often times over 800 images, this process takes some time but we choose not to sacrifice quality to save time.

Prints are typically available in 2 weeks, but can be rushed if need be. We can't state an exact time frame for wedding albums because each album is designed specifically for the couple, and production times vary depending on the album type.

6. How many pictures will you take?

We don't set a limit for photographs - we'd never miss you first dance just because you've reached a "quota" for the day! Typically, you will receive at least 800 images for full day coverage. Often times, that number can exceed 1000 images if you choose 2 photographer coverage.

7. What happens if you show up late or can't make it to the wedding?

In all of the 38 years that Grand Lubell has been in business, there has never been a missed wedding. We understand that weddings can be very stressful and we do our best to keep your stress-free when it comes to photography! We have six photographers, and generally we only book 3 per day, so we have plenty of backups in the event of an emergency.

8. Can I see a sample contract?

We would love to show you a sample contract upon request.

9. Are you part of any professional associations, or do you have extra training in your field?

All of our photographers have at least a 4 year Bachelor of Fine Arts degree as well as additional advanced training in the most recent workshops and seminars. Bob very recently attended a workshop in Vegas where he came back with all sorts of goodies for us (photoshop plug-ins, magazines, samples galore!!)

10. Do you have liability insurance?

Yes. This is very important and you should be sure to ask everyone you hire for that day about liability insurance.

11. What type of cameras do you use, and will you have any backups in case something breaks or doesn't work?

Our photographers shoot Canon Digital SLRs. We recently purchased the brand new Canon 5D Mark II which is the latest in Canon's cutting edge camera line. We always travel with backup equipment and have never found ourselves in a situation where we have no working equipment during a job.

12. How many years have you been photographing weddings?

38 years! If we didn't love it, we would have found something else to do by now!! In all seriousness however, we want to stress that in these economic hardship times it is important to feel confident and secure with your photographer choice. We have a long standing business with a studio and an office that you can reach us at. Please, consider long and hard before you hire a photographer with no permanent studio or office. We have heard too many stories about deposits lost to disappearing companies!

13. What do you charge for overtime?

Nothing! When you hire us for your full day coverage, you can be rest assured that we will be one of the LAST people to leave the reception! We want to capture your day in its entirety, which is why we do not charge 'overtime.'
